Not so long ago I was lucky enough to add a rare brown version to my HMV102 collection, and posted it here. Now another has turned up. Don't miss it!

Pity the original lid stay has been replaced by that totally inappropriate, clumsy contraption. A correct replacement would be easy to find, but removal of the present one may leave some ugly screw holes.

Although this is obvious when you look for it, I think that is quite well spotted! Only in the above photo is the lid stay actually shown as the other relevant pictures just miss it.

If I was still looking for a brown 102, I would be prepared to overlook this fault and fit the correct lid stay from my stock of spares.
It might be months or even years before another example comes onto the market, and redundant screw holes can be disguised with care.
At the time of posting this reply, the high bid is no more than the going rate for a good black 102.

If it were on this side of the pond, I'd snap it up in a jiffy.

yes it is rare , sold very few because of the colour S__T !

Brown and earth tones were quite popular on luggage and other things back then. I rather like the 1930s and 1940s neutral aesthetic.

Shouldn’t let that stop you. The shipping charges are very reasonable and, properly packed, it makes no difference if the travel distance is 3, 3,000, or 30,000 miles.
