Harvard Talking Machine

This past week I just purchased a Harvard Talking Machine from a collector nearby. This particular one was the Model No. 4 which sold in 1907 for $17.40 and probably was their nicest disk machine that year. The Harvard was a machine, sold by Sears, which used Columbia parts. This cabinet however seems to be a unique design with craftsman style corner columns. I haven't seen many of these and thought some of you might enjoy some pictures. Stan Stanford, Portland, OR

That's sweet, Stan. Thanks for sharing photos, I don't get to see many Harvards, and this one is quite special.

Best,
Fran

Very cool and unusual machine! In the world of those of us who collect “Craftsman” furniture, etc., the more inclusive term is ‘Arts & Crafts Style’. ‘Craftsman’ refers specifically to the products produced by Gustav Stickley’s companies, much like ‘Victrola’ refers specifically to a Victor product.

Very nice, Stan! It appears to have the same general dimensions as an AH Graphophone with the extended arms and 30" horn. I like it!

Congratulations - -

Way to go Stan!

I looked long and hard at one of these at Union years ago, but eventually decided to pass --- one of the few regrets of my 35+ - year collecting journey. We were just $100 apart on the price, and it would have looked so good with my two lesser Harvards...

Congratulations,
Bob
