A great gramophone, all original, it has it's original HMV 5B soundbox which is in great condition and sounds great.
Made in 1947 (B = 1936 +11)
The covering is better than the photo's may suggest, , I will try to get some better photos when I can, my camera doesn't like low lighting.

The cons are a missing turntable circlip and the common missing leather of the carry handle.

If I didn't have a Grafonola 202 and no room for additions this would be a nice phonograph.

Anybody who is curious, a good-quality portable can blow your mind if you've only been listening to pre-'25 acoustic machines. I demonstrated my British Viva Tonal for my brother today--we started by playing an electric record of the Rienzi Overture on my old 1914 Victrola. He thought it sounded fine--until we started up the 202. His words, after sampling a few records..."You know, you could have saved yourself a lot of money if you'd just bought one of those first!"

So if you're skeptical about a good-quality portable as a viable music player, don't be; the classic portables are famous round the world for a reason.

Agreed! I have an HMV 102. Beautiful sound! Quite surprising how much sound (and sound quality) comes from a well designed portable.
