Hi Gang I have a table top two spring victrola motor that needs a good cleaning and speed adjustment. The springs are working fine as are the gears but slows down on occation and sometimes needs a hand start. I hate using flammable cleaners so who out there does this kind of work? I don't know if distance factors in as I would more then likely send by priority mail flat rate large box. I have a Victor VV-IX machine ( Can't remember if two springs or one). The springs are fine but because of the black tar grease cloging everything I have to hand start it and it sometimes just slows down to a crawl while other times it will work fine for a record or two. I don't think it needs new parts or springs but....Anyway that's the situation. Let me know if interested and assuming no new parts price ( shipping alone will cost me $ 42.00. In case you didn't know, you don't have to send the whole machine, just what you need serviced. If you want the whole motor cleaned, you just send that. If you only want the springs cleaned, you just send the springs and barrels. Everything comes apart fairly easily. Just make sure the motor is completely wound down before you try to take it apart! And yes, flat rate boxes are almost certainly going to be the cheapest way to do this.

While you are at it, it will also help to take the reproducer off & ship that in for servicing. Or you could do it at home with a kit (assuming yours has its original No. 2 or Exhibition Reproducer in place.) They are easy to rebuild and much gentler on your records afterwards. Fresh needles, good rebuilt reproducer, and a motor back to running order--you've basically made a new Victrola!

It's not about harm or hurt, it's about rules that have been in place for a long time to help organize the posts that we all make. Frankly, it was informational, not a rebuke because you are new here. If you read the rules, you will see that the moderators can - and do - delete non-conforming posts like yours without warning or notification.
