I think it is a V-30 made for export. I believe in the 1930 time frame.

Wow, there can't be many of those left around!
Why is it marked Victor Talking Machine if it might be a 1930 model? I heard that VTM sold out in 1929.

Still a nice-looking phonograph with a lot more modern styling than the usual Victrola.

According to this excellent website the V-30 was introduced in September 1929, so the Victor lid transfer is correct. Unfortunately the web page has no picture of the machine with the doors open, so it is unclear whether there should have been a fretted grille over the horn mouth. The grille cloth on the French example pictured looks like curtain material, but the machine is certainly a rare find.

I really like the cabinet design. Looks closer to the 8-12 in size. I wish Victor had marketed them more in the USA.

I have this model in my collection. Purchased it about 20 years ago or so. I'd like to sell it. I'll put an ad in the Yankee Trader section sometime. It's an interesting cabinet design.

It's hard to tell, from the photos, how large the cabinet is, but judging from the size of the components in the player compartment, it looks to be about the size of the VV-4-20 ( http://www.victor-victrola.com/4-20.htm ) or slightly wider by a few inches, base on what I see in this video -- ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agyO9_CGFAA ). The 4-20 has a space for one record album under the lid, the V-30 has two.

I also noticed the "shadow area" on the grille, indicating that the horn used is smaller than the mouth of the grille.

Could you provide the dimensions of the cabinet?

After doing a little more googling, I spotted this photo of the V-30's horn:
Capture.JPG
(From -- https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.pe/MP ... o-v-30-_JM )

This photo contradicts the information provided in "The Victor Data Book" which states that the V-30 was fitted with a "re-entrant" horn. Based on that, I had assumed that the V-30 used one of the left over production horns installed in smaller cabinet models, such as the 4-40 or 4-20.

The horn, which looks to be authentic, is basically an elongated version of the (non-folded) horn installed in the Consolette, though it appears to be all metal! A much larger folded horn could have been installed in the cabinet, had Victor wanted to, so possibly this was done to save weight on shipment costs, since this was intended as an export model.

Also, based on other photos I spotted, along with the jump to the cite I provided, the grille cloth in the photo posted by Garret is authentic and not a replacement.
