There is a nice columbia phonograph near me I have been keeping an eye on for awhile. He dropped the price to half awhile ago, and I am thinking I may be able to get him down further.

I have three phonographs I need to fix/restore and eventually I would like to sell them. I could use that money to go buy this phonograph. I have a Brunswick 240, Columbia K-2, and a York Model Brunswick.
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=42692 here is my post about the brunswick. I took apart and cleaned the motor, although it needs the spacers between the motor and the motor board. One of the brunswick springs is broken, I have the springs out and cleaned on my workbench, just haven't put them back in yet. I also took the reproducer apart, but haven't put it back together.

Both the K-2 and 240 need to be refinished/restore the finish.
If anyone is interested in them please send me a pm. Im located in Knox TN. I would rather sell them as is and have someone else fix/enjoy them than have them sit in my garage for the next few years

I'm not sure if you are trying to sell them here or ask us if you should restore them? Either way, the Yankee Trader section is for all the "For Sale" items.

As for if you should restore them and sell them, it depends on if you get the satisfaction out of fixing them and letting someone else enjoy a nice machine. You likely will not make much (if any) money though. The last 3 or 4 common machines that I have fixed up and sold I have lost money on (and time). Maybe that's just my bad selling skills though.

It's difficult to give an opinion without some photos. There is so much that can be done to improve the appearance before an actual refinish or restoration is attempted.

I have seen the machines and the 240 is a pretty phonograph that needs quite a bit of polishing on the outside, the K-2 looks like all the other old K-2's you see, and the York is a very solid example that just has darkened up with time. (Not sure where the grille is though, but I'm glad to hear you're not planning to convert it into a knockoff EMG any more.)

If I had room & didn't have a Brunswick York whose future is currently in double jeopardy to worry about, I'd be very interested in picking out one of these. And if I had lots of room, maybe two. The Brunswicks have quality approaching or exceeding that of a Victrola and the Columbias have a clean-cut geometric style that is quite nice.

I would like to sell them. So I guess this is in the wrong place haha.

Is there a way to move the topic into the trader section?

Simply write an ad in the Yankee Trader section. No need to move anything from here. Be sure to post several pictures of each one.
