Don't see it as a shame, see it as an opportunity. For $20 you get some parts and a great cabinet to experiment with finish restoral and guilt free refinishing techniques.

I suppose it's kind of that glass half full or glass half empty :?:

That being said, it is kind of like witnessing the decline and death of a loved one... (Okay, a bit extreme, but you get the drift here.)

*Edit* On second glance, restoration of that would be a minor miracle! I suppose if one has lots of bits and pieces, hardware, stains, putty, parts and veneer lying around unused, it could be an entertaining project. (Perhaps with a few animal stripes like this morning's post??)

If I had it I'd consider reworking it into a pedestal with record storage. There's little realistic possibility of restoring this- short of finding another in equally rough condition to combine parts.

That was an L Door XVI at some point right? With the legs missing and all that
veneer torn off would kill the deal for me. To echo Brad, it would be good to practice
wood restoration though since you would not have anything to lose. I would not
pay more than $5 myself.

I have a friend that needs the little parts drawer in the bottom. If someone on the forum buys it, I'd pay $20 for the drawer. Jerry

The drawer and shelf would cover the $20. Plus all the veneer you could pull of of it, and any misc hardware left on. I'd grab it for $20 in a NY minute (that is if it were anywhere near me).
