I found this cylinder in my collection today while going through hundreds of my cylinders that I've not seen in many years. It's in excellent condition and plays great. In fact, it plays far too loud for my ears. I'm wondering what sort of value it has if anyone here has an idea as I may consider selling it. It's a 2 minute Edison black wax cylinder #12765 "CHINESE SONG".
Thanks,
Doug

No idea on the value, but I would love to hear a recording of it. Possibly a good video for you're channel?

Thanks for your comments, Martin. I might
do that since I can't imagine there are many YouTube videos featuring playing of original Chinese Edison cylinders.

These are very rare and desirable to Chinese record collectors and the PRC's wealthy. The cylinder phonograph was only sold in China by Pathé or importers of Edison.
All Edison Chinese cylinders were produced, recorded, sold, and manufactured in the US to the Chinese-American market.
There is a catalog from Taipei University (I think?) of all Edison Chinese Cylinders online. These often go for hundreds of dollars.
This specific song has only sold one other time online, that being for $797.89 in 2019.
After these were issued in 1902, they were reissued in 1903 in a slightly different box. They were reissued under different numbers and new Chinese records when Edison came out with the 8251-8499 Chinese Amberol series.

The knowledge here never fails to astound me.
