I've had this broken down machine for awhile, given to me by a friend I haven't seen for sometime. Great injustices have indeed been visited upon this machine. Nonetheless I think someone can identify the original machine and who made it. Five pictures are attached.

First, I removed the motor. It is clearly not original to the case. I see no marks to identify who made it. It is, however, robust and works quite well. Note that it requires a slotted crank. The original motor, as indicated by original mounting holes that have been plugged was more substantial.

Please have a look at the case, both top and one side. I believe the brake is original but has been repositioned closer to the spindle to accommodate a smaller sized platter (which I have). Small holes have been added to the top to mount the existing, smaller motor. Other holes have been added for the crank and speed control. I show one side. I believe that escutcheon is original and was probably for the original speed control.

I believe the back bracket and tone arm are original. I have no elbow and no horn.

Finally there is the retailers name plate pinned to the top.

Can the maker of this machine be identified?

It's definitely a PARLOPHONE with modified motor.

Thanks for the confirmation. I also found a picture of a flamingo embossed on the tone arm. Must be a logo. I thought the motor might be a Thorens. Any idea?

The flamingo was Beka's trade mark.
