Happy Easter folks!

What are your favorite acoustic records (2 min/4 min cylinders, Diamond Discs, 78s, etc.) for celebrating Easter?

Please post what you'd be playing if it was Easter a century or so ago.

Have a great Easter, and stay healthy,
Fran

Happy Easter Fran!

Christ Arose by the Haydn Quartet, as mentioned above, is by far my favorite Easter hymn. I think the quartet sang it very well, but I love pretty much anything they sang.

Another Easter hymn I've got floating around somewhere is Blue Amberol 2847, "Let the Merry Church Bells Ring" by the Carol Singers. Not particularly exciting, but fitting for the season:

Thanks Gentlemen! Your selections give me points for reference.

Nate, I hope your Easter has been joyous.

Cheers,
Fran

I got up this morning and, as we are barred from going to Mass, played Evan Williams' excellent 1913 rendition of "The Holy City" on the Victrola, followed by "Agnus Dei" by Ernestine Schumann-Heink. And as I did not know where my copy of "Christ Arose" by the Haydn Quartet (JerryVan is right, it is a good record) has gotten to in all these boxes of records, and as the last of my fiber needles finally was giving out, that ended the Easter records. "Crown Him with Many Crowns" on 2-minute Indestructible would have been a great selection, but the Edison Fireside is out of service.

Thank you Charles. I was also reminded a short whole ago, by the movie "Easter Parade" of the Irving Berlin song, but I only found a Youtube reference of it being reproduced in 1933 on Victor scroll, so it falls outside my criteria.

Cheers,
Fran

Christ Arose by the Hayden Quartet. I’m sure many others here has that one.
