The round ball is the only one you can use to play a Pathé sapphire disk. The pointed one would be used for Edison Diamond Discs in, say, one of the off-brand machines which can be turned round to point vertical.

Thanks for you response. Yes, that would be correct on both counts. I had several friends that though they both looked of Pathé manufacture. It does not matter though. They are both good specialty needles for those who wish to use them.
