Need measurements for H&S under glass cabinet cutout

I have a Hawthorne and Sheble under glass cabinet that had its top replaced. The cabinet currently has a reproduction top, but I still need the measurements for the hole to cut out of the top in order to fit an Edison home. Can anybody with the same cabinet send a picture with the dimensions for an Edison home?

Thanks
Martin

Just a guess, but wouldn't it be the same dimension as the stock cabinet opening for whatever machine you choose?

Martin,

Very cool cabinet! When I was a young collector I would have been over the moon for a nice piece like that! (I still would be!)

You may have noticed it already, but the drawer pull, on the 3rd drawer down, has the back plate flipped upside down. My crazy eyes go right to stuff like that...

That would work, although from what I've seen it wasn't cut as a perfect rectangle, but more to fit the shape of the motor frame.

Some pictures showing the cutout for an Edison Home. Let me know if you need additional measurements.

I'm assuming those would be the dimensions for a "long case" Edison Home?

Thank you! It definitely helped. I can't tell if the cabinet I own is smaller than yours, or if you're cabinet is a later rendition than mine. The drawers on my cabinet only hold 15 cylinders each, as oppose to 20. This decision is strange to me, as they easily could have fit an extra 25 cylinders in total had they used a different method of keeping the drawers from falling out.

Now that we are on the subject of this cabinet, does anybody know about the existence of the "Douglas Horn Socket"? From what I understand it is a brace to support a no. 4 H&S crane that is wedged under the bedplate as oppose to being screwed onto the back of a case. If anybody has one of these crane supports, I would be very interested in owning it, or at least get a picture of one. Here is the post that I found the picture in ; viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4840

Thanks
Martin

I am curious which model Home would be appropriate in your cabinet. The cabinets under glass fell out of favor about what year? Jerry B.

The H&S catalog from which the page illustration was taken dates from after July 1903.

Don't these cabinets have a shelf above the first drawer to keep any oil from the motor dripping on the records?
