Just heat the cad plated screws with a torch to red hot and drop them in motor oil...

You could go to your local hardware store, buy the right style screws there, in either brass or steel, even cadmium plated ones will work. Then get some Novacan (comes in dark brown or black) from your local stained glass store, or from Ebay, and dilute it about 50%, then soak them in the mixture until the right color is achieved, likely a few minutes. Once they dry, coat them in Watco oil and wipe off the excess. Let the oil dry for a few weeks, or bake them in an oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes or more, before installing.
