HMV attach horn to elbow ... how?

I have a Hayes horn and a Dum Dum horn, both have big holes, about 1cm wide ... both came with big machine screws holding the horn to the elbow. I thought I'd splurge, and I bought two of those fancy brass "reproduction" screws from the Turkish seller on eBay (one of which is seen in the photos), thinking I would just screw them right into the big holes on my horns. Well, these screws have a shaft that is maybe 2mm wide, so I then realized my horns need to be modified in order to receive the new screws.
One of the big brass machine screws I have, which came with the horn, actually has a cavity inside it, and if I flip it around, the fancy new screw I purchased screws inside of it, somewhat (it's a bit too loose), as seen in the photos. Could that machine screw be original to the horn, and is that the proper part I need, or is it just a coincidence?
Any idea of what part I actually need here?
