That is a good candidate for contact cement.

It looks like they used hot hide glue originally.
If you have a glue pot, a thinner mix will allow it to soak into the fibers better as it sets.

WeldBond glue available at Michaels or Amazon online will work perfectly....

I appreciate all the great advice. I am sure all of those suggestions would work great, but since I did not want to mix up hot hide for a small job or run out to buy something, I just used what I had on hand. Aleen's Tacky Glue works so well for turntable felt that I used it on this. I clamped it overnight and just this morning reattached it the cable and it seems to be holding fine.
The worst part was the end of the cable was frayed a bit and it took more work than I anticipated to work it into the socket.
All's well that ends well.

On my C-250, the felt on the mute ball was partly missing: I used some spare felt and Tacky Glue to repair it, and it works fine.Dave D wrote:I appreciate all the great advice.
