Need help with turntable for Vic I type D not fitting

I bought a turntable for my Vic I type D and it's supposed to be the correct turntable for late outside horn machines, but it doesn't seem to fit properly. The pin on the motor's spindle is too low on the spindle for the turntable to settle on it and it just keeps reacing down until it rests on the brake. The thickness on the upper part of the spindle is about 8 millimeters and the lower part about 9 millimeters (metric system, sorry). Could it be that the spindle got some kind of modification or might I be adjusting it wrong?
Thanks for any help and advice in advance

Based on what you've said and the photos, the turntable appears to be riding low. In my experience, there are 2 things which typically cause this.
1. The washers between the motor frame and the bottom of the motor board are too thick. or
2. The ball bearing that the turntable spindle rests on inside the hole in the motor frame is missing. Sometimes these are misplaced during motor overhauls.
If it's not one of those two, then I don't know.
Good luck.

Do you know where I could find a ball bearing?

Thorhallur,
You need the Victor 10" turntable with the longer pedestal under the base, (see pictures).
Your turntable will work on an earlier Vic.I or Vic.II.

Just a couple of observations based on your pictures. The turntable looks uneven- higher on the left than on the right- The correct turntable ought to be perfectly flat- the paper shim washers are responsible for this. At the same time, the crank should screw into the winding shaft without binding, in the least ! Trial and error unless you are extremely well versed in very accurate measurements. Patience will out.

That's because it's resting on the brake lever on the left side.

If Zwebie is correct you could check with a common 12" turntable from a typical later Victrola X or XI. It would give you an idea about the correct fit on the spindle. Jerry

Zwebie is probably right. It looks like Thor has the incorrect turntable for his Victor I.

Thorhallur, I think I've finally found the turntable you need. I'd welcome other opinions.
