I came across an Edison Universal Shaving Machine: Hand Crank patented around 1905. The shaving mechanism of this machine is missing, as shown in the picture. There is nothing inside the carriage arm. How is it suppose to look like? Any clues on finding a shaver?

The cutter is in the nickle plated chip cute at the back of the carrier arm the bit at the front is just the lift knob and weight to keep the arm down while shaving.
the nickel plated lever releases the blade holder to set it on the surface of the blank and then lock it in place. If at all possible you should see if some one can show you how to use this as it requires a little more instruction than can easily be given in a post on here.

this is a video of later version of the machine by this time the cutter depth setting was automatic your one is not and needs a delicacy of touch or you will rip up the blank surface by taking a deep cut.

And it shaves in reverse direction to a record playing

I do hope these are enough clues for now.
