I have a Victor No. 2 reproducer that needs to be rebuilt. One of the screws won’t come loose. I’ve tried penetrating oil and freezing it. The screw head is simply too destroyed for me to get it to budge. Any thoughts on next steps to get it out? Thanks.

If you've messed up the screw head, you'll probably need a screw extractor (Google it). You can also Google "remove a screw without an extractor" for some other things to try first. Good luck!

If the screw slot is not too far gone, try tightening the screw. Sometimes it is possible to tighten a frozen screw (or nut) and break it loose.

IMO I think dealing with those screws is the hardest part of rebuilding the #2. There’s always that one screw that’s more stubborn than the rest.

I have had some success with tapping lightly on the screwdriver while putting pressure turning it out. If that fails then I have made a new slot in the screw head with a Dremel tool and a small milling bit. Then repeat with the tapping on the screw driver while turning it out.

Ken's idea of deepening/re-forming the slot with a Dremel is a good idea...
Also, I have had good success clamping a ViseGrip to the blade of a screwdriver to use for more leverage when turning. Clamp the reproducer in a vise and push down hard on the screwdriver with one hand to keep it in the slot while turning the screwdriver with the ViseGrip attached using your other hand.

I agree with all the above, gunsmith's screwdrivers are really what should be used

If you can apply clamping pressure to the 2 parts it should relieve the tension on the screw. It is often the last screw that gets stuck because all of the force is on that screw. It is a good practice to break all of the screws free before removing any. Basically, break it free, snug it back up and go to the next.
