I'm sure the grill is taken from a Chippendale but I think it looks pretty decent and the grill design gives a larger opening for the horn. It probably sounds very good.

Still too much money though...

Grossly overpriced, considering the record storage dividers are gone.

All...

What is a good price for one of these? I was looking at one in an antiques store yesterday? It was in excellent condition and still had the record dividers. They wanted $450.00 so I passed on it. What would be a good price, I might go back and make an offer?

Mahogany I'd say $200-250, in oak maybe $300, but this would have to be in my opinion a really CLEAN machine with a good stylus, otherwise you're in for another $100-150 for a good stylus.

Hope this helps.

No one has mentioned that it has a Chippendale Grill? Odd that it would fit that machine? I see no sign of a chippendale in the Edison book showing the use of that style grill in that machine. I have an oak model which I did pay too much for, upwards of almost 400.00 because it had an edisonic up grade to the reproducer that was factory installed, or dealer, how ever that works and full of records. But I have seen similar machines on ebay not sell for 199.00 at times lately. I would keep looking and not pay 400.00 for one.

Larry, yes, the Chippendale grill was mentioned in the first post.

I'd love to know why the seller is including a pack of needles!

Sean....

Thank you for thoughts on the values of a Sheraton. The one I saw was $450.00. It did appear to be complete and had a good stylus. So I guess the price was not to far out of range, but it was no great buy either :)

Hi Mike,

I think the Sheratons in oak are very nice machines, but $450, at least to me, is too high by $150-200. For $500, I've seen oak C-19s for sale at the Union show and I'd rather have one of those!

You're in the Ohio area, right? Edison disc machines seem to be much more plentiful in the midwest than they are here in the NY area, so I'm sure you'll turn one up!

Sean....

I agree, I would really like to add a Diamond Disk to my collection but I am going to wait until a better model shows up. I would really like a C-19 and it is worth my time waiting for a good one.
