I have advised the seller that what he actually has is a c.1929 Micro-Perophone Chromogram Model MP25. Georgian yes, but George V not George III.
What were the chances of it being spotted by a Chromogram owner? Will the listing be revised? Will the price be reduced? He will be lucky to get £300 let alone £3000.

Well spotted Roger and well done for trying to educate the owner. I've long since given up doing so - for some reason that lapsed a few weeks when I spotted an HMV 97 portable that the seller had listed describing it as a 102 in the title and a 101 in the description, but was sworn at for my troubles (not for the first time) despite being polite, not overbearing, and making it clear that I was only meaning to be helpful. There are some nasty folk out there!

Yeah, who would ever dream of putting some crummy old turntable and funky tone arm in a unit with that lovely modern turntable? Some people....you just never can tell.

On the other hand, George III. That name sounds familiar, somehow. Wasn't he involved in some colonial debacle a couple or three hundred years ago?

This phonograph from 1802 has got to be the oldest in existence! Just think, Beethoven could have heard his piano sonatas and string quartets on it.
