I just picked up a Sonora Concert model phonograph with a Sonora no. 5 reproducer (with an aluminum diaphragm). Does any one know when this model was manufactured? I've attached a couple of photos.
Thanks,
AR

I have a Concert as well (and a Sonora Philharmonic). The Concert was introduced in 1926 as part of the line of New Reproducing Phonographs.

Bill,
Thanks for the information! I appreciate it.
That makes sense considering the Sonora no. 5 reproducer that came with the phonograph has an aluminum diaphragm for playing electrically recorded records.

Yes, it was Sonora’s answer to the Orthophonic. There were additional models in the Tonalic line a year later, like the Philharmonic. The reproducer is almost the same but the one on my Philharmonic is a 5B rather than the 5 on the Concert, so they are not interchangeable. The difference is the diameter of the tonearm connection—the 5B is the same as an Orthophonic soundbox.

Bill,
Thanks to you I'm a little bit more knowledgeable now with Sonoras...
