I fell into a YouTube rat hole the other night and ended up looking at this video. Goofy antics aside and people not getting out of the way, I am really wondering what this machine is? Is it a custom cabinet?

Anxious to read responses and hopefully identify this interesting looking machine, but OMG, what an irritating video! I wanted to scream at those people.

According to the Victor Victrola page: "The Credenza was also available with an electric motor option (Credenza X or VE 8-30 X) for $35.00 extra, and a total of 30,642 of these machines were produced. In addition a "Credneza U" model was produced in very low volumes; this version would run on either AC or DC current." The cabinet style of the YouTube machine is very different from that of the standard Credenza, having cut outs in the front corners; unfortunately, the Victor Victrola site doesn't have a photo of one for comparison, but if the video is in fact of a Credenza U as claimed, it's certainly an interesting variant.

That's my understanding too, and since it came from a wealthy family I think it's probably an art cabinet version. I don't know if it was a stock art cabinet or something more bespoke, but its nameplate says "Credenza U", and the serial number is consistent with an official production model, so it looks like Victor counted it among the standard U-model machines.

And, yes, I'd like to smack the videographer, who was much more interested in showing his friends horsing around and drinking wine than in getting even a passable view of the machine nominally subject of the video.
