Searchlight Horn- Before and After

Here are some before and after pictures of my searchlight horn. When I got it, it was completely rusted with a few traces of the original paint left. I can't recall ever having seen a phonograph horn painted white and gold but I decided to try it out... what do you think?

Cheers,

David

Beautiful Horn David!! These horns really stand out to me. I would like to find one for a Victor machine. I know of one, but the fellow won’t sell it..Here’s a couple that I have had redone...Keep it up!!

You wouldn't happen to be a Georgia Tech student by any chance, would you? ;)

Probably the fact that the original finishes were so cheap that it seems none have survived with any kind of appealing look to them. Even the few originals that are in reasonable condition seem to have had ugly finishes when new. Added to that, many repaint attempts are simply not well done. Yours, (and the other 2 pictured here), are the exceptions!

Yes it’s sad that none of them really survived with original finish. I have seen some poorly repainted horns and boy are they ugly :? I’m glad the people have given their thoughts think I did a good job on it... I was worried that I devalued it because it wasn’t an original color scheme.
