I am unsure, but is this possibly circassian?

Thanks, Jerry. I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to the different types of walnut used in Victor machines.

If I remember right it was World War I that interrupted the flow of Turkish (Circassian) walnut to the Victor shop, and then cabinets went to American Walnut only.

I have one that looks very similar and it is Circassian as far as I know. I know this is very late for Circassian Walnut. There are pictures of it in Fabrazio/Paul: A World of Antique Phonographs. I have included 2 pictures here. Stan Stanford (Portland)

I know the word is overused today, but your machine is -- in a word -- stunning.

I think you're correct about the supply of Circassian being cut off by the Great War. I believe Stan's machine has a milestone serial number and Victor did uniquel things with those machines. Maybe we can get Stan to post a photo of the ID plate.

Here is the I.D. plate and the key. The key did not come with it, but I think it's unique to the VV:230 and maybe a few others. Note the serial number is 1000. I don't know if this is just luck or was saved by Victor to be used on a special machine. I would like to think the latter, but it's probably the former!! Stan
