I have two versions of the Q. The early silver base and the black base with the decals. Both are in a case. My question is, the later black base, did they all come in a case at this point or was it also available with no case ?

According to Hazelcorn, the second style Q, when furnished with a case, was catalogued as the "QA".: without a case, it was imply "Q".
