Recorded in Chicago April 9, 1936, with a 13-piece group including Fletcher (or Horace) Henderson on piano. FH arrangements formed the core of Benny Goodman's book, and several others in the Big Band era. The Big Band sound of the '30s and '40s is indebted to FH perhaps more than any other single individual, IMO.

You're welcome! The info came from "Henderson: The Music of Fletcher Henderson and His Musicians," by Walter C. Allen (Highland Park, NJ, self-published, 1973 [rev. 1974]). This is the definitive bio-discography of FH, and I was fortunate enough to acquire one of few remaining copies from Mr. Allen's widow years ago.

Paul, that would be "Jangled Nerves," would it not? Same data as the previous. It's an up-tempo twelve-bar form, more popularly known, perhaps, as "Ragg Mopp" ("R-I say RA-RAG-RAGG--RAGGMOPP Rag Mop, doodle-e i-de ladle").

I thought Rag Mop came out in the 50s. I do hear some similarity in Jangled Nerves, it could have come from Rag Mop? Was Rag Mop first recorded in the 30s? Just looked it up, and it seems I'm right. Rag Mop wasn't written until 1949 and Jangled Nerves came out in 1936.
