I just wanted to show all of you my Edison Standard now that it is back from being serviced. Jeff (aka SonnyPhono on this board) is starting a phonograph servicing business here in central Ohio. He contacted me about cleaning and servicing my machine after I posted the original pictures of it early this month. My machine now plays, sounds and looks great. I just wanted to share these pictures and thank SonnyPhono for doing such a tremendous job on my Edison. Jeff is a really great young man and is wonderful to work with!!!!!

I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone on this board for their advice on my Edison machine. I have never owned a cylinder machine before and I really appreciate the information everyone shared with me on them. I have picked up a number of records to play and have really become fond of this player. It is a really great addition to my collection and I look forward to getting more of them as time and money permits.

Thank you Antique1973, I am really thrilled with the way it came out. It is a great addition to my collection and with that large horn a real eye catcher when folks come into the house. I am also astounded by how well these old Edison's sound. I though a machine of that vintage would be really scratchy and hard to hear, but this one is very clear and loud now that the motor is running smooth the the reproducer has been overhauled. I feel I am very lucky to have found it locally and at a very reasonable price I do find myself on the hunt for two minute cylinders, they are definitely not as easy to come by as the disks.

I know what you mean about the improved sound after new gaskets, diaphragm, etc. My Amberola 30 sounds quite good but I would like to service it eventually to realize the true potential. I need to study up a bit however, since all my previous work was with Victor-style mica reproducers. I want to make sure I know what I am doing before I take the plunge.
