Worst Record Ever?

This is so extraordinarily awful but I can't stop listening to it - please upload your favourite worst records on this thread!

The machine is an early 1950s STC Radiogram, Garrard changer.

Okay, I have to agree... that was pretty awful, but unlike you, I don't think I'll feel compelled to listen to it again!

I'll have to give it some thought in terms of what I feel is the worst record ever, although I do have some ideas. :rose:

LOL, that is bad! At least it has a decent beat I guess :?
I'd always considered this the worst song I have. It's not so much the singer but the lyrics that make throw up a little in my mouth when I here it.

Those Garrard RC121s are a great little changer. I've got one in my Pye "Atlanta" from 1960 & it never misses a beat. I didn't think the RC121/4(MK1) was introduced until 1956 though? I suppose if the STC is early 50s, it must have had a turntable upgrade. I think that happened a lot after 52/53 when mainstream Australia got microgroove records.

Shane you are good!

I was given this STC when I was 12 and the changer in it was broken. So I went through a whole procession of different changers and finally ended up with a really awful 1980s style turntable (non changer). I put this one in a couple of years ago when I couldn't stand the look of the 1980s anymore!

That dreamy choir accompanying the recitation is great, Shane - it sort of reminds me of the song I think is the worst ever, "Honey" ('See the tree how big it's grown and friend it hasn't been so long it wasn't big' - yes that is the opening line.

Just went back to my files and see from the Radio Service Bulletin that the STC dates from 1953. It is model A8231. I retrofitted that Garrard in 2004 according to my notes and it has been used daily since without a single problem. Wish someone would build something like that today. My last CD player lasted about two years in total...not fifty-four!

It's not my video but I'm glad that I found it. This is piece is of quite remarkable dreadfulness, especially this 50's reel tape echo *yikes*

Classic! Actually that might be the most restrained Winifred Atwell record I've heard...that echo made me laugh.

Horrible records and Garrard players seem to be well matched...

I'll try and find some more in my collection over the next few days.

thanks for posting WDC.

Glenn.

Wow that was awful! I made it to four minutes which may be a world record! To be honest I'm not surprised by the bad music which made it onto disk in the microgroove era. Thanks for posting!

I wonder if this was a "vanity record" ?

That's right up there with my Mel-O-Tone 78's of Florence Foster Jenkins...
