Model S Reproducer Trouble

Hello all, I bought a Model S reproducer and when I received it, the top half is loose from the bottom and it seems like only one screw is holding everything together. It sounds fine the way it is, but my horn and crane tend to pull the two halves apart slightly. If I adjust the crane so that it stays together, there is too much pressure on the carriage. If I tighten the screw on the reproducer, I get buzzing. I have contacted the seller, and was advised to loosen the screw, which seems wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This one shows them together.

The holes look like they’ve been enlarged.

Yes, they have been enlarged. In addition to being enlarged, they have apparently also been drilled all the way through. The hole should be counterbored, in order to "hide" the screw head, leaving a smaller hole for the last little bit for the screw head to clamp against. I'd be having a "talk" with the seller. Here's how mine looks...

for something advertised as being rebuilt and selling for nearly 300 I would send it back.

JerryVan,
Thank you. I have talked with the seller and after sending them pictures, they did say it must have happened in shipping, but after hearing your description of how it should be, I think this was how it was before it was shipped. I may have another conversation with them.

Thanks again.

I’m going to take another look at the listing photos. If I notice the enlarged holes, I am going to bring it up to the seller. If I can find a replacement part, which is a long shot I know, I would rather hold on to it.
Thank you for your advice.

NO WAY that happened in shipping. Maybe it was glued together and fell apart in shipping?

Wishing you the best in your talk with the seller.

Stephen_Madara,
Thank you for posting these. I guess I should have spotted this. I had bought an Edison Home from the same seller and haven’t had any real problems with it.
