For what it's worth, I have the lighter, 2 spring version of the BD, it's cousin, the BJ. It has a polished, cast aluminum dust ring. I also have a BD that I'm repairing for a friend. It has the brass, nickel plated ring. The point is, I believe either one would be correct, but neither is easy to find...
