I wanted to bid on this Brunswick bank as a nice complement to my now-nearly completed Brunswick, but the current bid price of $62.00 (with still two days to go) is more than I paid for the machine at $50.00!

PS ~ If you would like to take a peek at the almost finished work on my Brunswick, check out the pictures I posted on my old thread,
but look no further than the first page/post.

I feel your pain, someday I hope I can figure out what items attract high bids on the Bay --- I'll Be Able to Retire

At any of the large phono sales I would expect the little Brunswick bank to be priced between $95 to $165. I mean no disrespect to Brunswick lovers but I'd rather have the bank than most ordinary uprights in mahogany. I think the bank is a good buy at anything less than $100. The high quality accessory items are tough to find. Jerry Blais

With that bank you're also competing with bank collectors, miniature collectors, advertising collectors, Etc. That can drive the price up

I've collected for many years and it's been in the last year or so that I bought a Brunswick bank. If my memory is correct, it was offered by a friend for $75 and I jumped at the opportunity. Jerry

Point taken... in my mind it's difficult to reconcile paying more for the momento than the actual item, I guess.

I guess it, as always, comes down to what you value. I personally agree with you Tink, I could not bring myself to paying that much for that particular item. But, On the other had I have paid over $500 for a rare woodworking plane so go figure

Yes, but in your case, the plane is at least (in theory) a functional piece. But for a bank?

Perhaps if it were mint it might be another story...
