Maybe they put the decimal in the wrong place.

They have a good rating so I contacted the seller advising him of my suspicion of exactly that.

They brought it down to $9,800.00, so I guess that the decimal point was where they wanted it. I guess that is one way to avoid parting with a machine.fmblizz wrote: Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:27 am They have a good rating so I contacted the seller advising him of my suspicion of exactly that.

$9,800 dollars and about fifty cents' worth of description. Seems like for that kind of money you'd at least explain why someone would want to buy it.

They don't need a description, since no one is going to buy it from someone who is clueless...VanEpsFan1914 wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 11:50 am $9,800 dollars and about fifty cents' worth of description. Seems like for that kind of money you'd at least explain why someone would want to buy it.

Re: Nice Victor III on Ebay not mine
Maybe it's his wife's ultimatum, and he's actually putting it for sale but doesn't want to sell it!
Lately we've painted and rearranged our flat, and my wife is starting to look at my HMV 194 (my largest machine, and the best one) with hate...!
If she obliges me to sell it, that's the kind of price I would put on it! Or I would change it for a smaller machine but a special one, a Monarch senior, a wonderful cylinder phonograph, or something... I've never had an external horn machine... But wives also hate horns... ! What to do?
I feel I must start to halve my collection, and I'm thinking of selling some 2000 78s... But it's going to be a serious task, and may be long! I would try to sell them in a lot first... or what? it would be a fast way to reduce stress at home... because if I start trying to sell them one by one... ufff!! I need time, materials to ship them, etc. I've planned to try local sale in Madrid, with hand delivery, but I feel that the internet sales of 78s are a bit saturated. Only one of the most popular Spanish site for antiques and collectibles has 23,000 78s lots on sale right now! It seems impossible!

My machines are safe, as the largest machine in our house belongs to my wife.

That's a good trick; to marry a collector... What if I give one machine to my wife as a present?
