I am hoping that someone here has or has heard the 'Talking Cigarette' Box?
It is a wooden cigarette box that plays a very small single groove record when the lid is opened.
The lid closure arm winds the spring with enough pressure to play the record for about 3 seconds.
I have the record, in two halves and the mechanism works perfectly.
I will attempt to repair the record but would like to know what was said. Does anyone know or (long shot have such a record?

Maybe it coughs.

A few of these have been posted over the years but I’m not sure what the record says... I know that a replacement record will be hard to come by so it’s worth taking the time to get as good a repair as possible. Let us know if no one else knows!

I think it says something like "have a cigarette" or "take a cigarette". The records are almost always broken. Mine is missing the record altogether and I know of someone else who's has the usual cracked record. It will be very hard to find a replacement record but you might just be lucky !

From the last line of the instructions, I'd like to see someone try "...to play any other record in this box." Even if it were the right size, I presume they'd only be playing one revolution of it!

Broken record-----what a "drag", Sorry, I couldn't resist. In all seriousness add me to the list of those who would like to see it play.

Maybe it plays a line from "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"!
