Not mine, but if it were closer, it might have been.

This is a high end off-brand machine, with exceptional cabinetry, a high end Fletcher tonearm and lots of style... Somebody needs to grab it...

The Ultraphone tag says it was manufactured by the National Phonograph Co. of Pittsburgh, PA. If so, this is a Thomas Edison related machine that is possibly a rare variant... Does anyone have any information on this?

"The National Phonograph Company was incorporated on 27 January 1896. It was restructured and reincorporated as Thomas A. Edison, Inc. on 28 February 1911. Edison Manufacturing Company also became a division of Thomas A. Edison, Inc. at this time." - Quote from Wikipedia.

If it was close to me, I would buy it in a heartbeat, just for the style...

You may be on to something.... but, I have a funny feeling it may not be related to Edison. Something makes me think I came across other similar company names when doing some unrelated off-brand research. I will let others more knowledgeable chime in.... I do specifically remember looking up something about that Jenkins Arcade.

That's all I got.... I must be getting forgetful as I get older.

They told me it would happen....

My hunch is that since Edison wasn't using that company name anymore, an off-brand manufacturer snatched it up...

Bill, you are probably right, but it's still a beautiful machine and deserves to be in someone's collection before it becomes a fancy bar...

Wish I had time to drive to Maryland... that molding, the grill and front legs are spectacular... and the Fletcher tonearm is designed to play all types of records - Diamond Discs, Pathés (vertical) and normal lateral 78s.

Curt - there is a slight possibility I may be heading up to the Maryland area in the coming weeks. I am going to honest, it isn't looking too promising at this point, but if for some reason the my personal plans work out, I will PM you and maybe I can get that back to NC for you....

Just a thought....

Chris,
Thanks for the offer, but it's too much trouble and it would probably cause a divorce.

Keep safe,
Curt

All - I happened to be on Facebook today and noticed the price has fallen to $290 on this piece.... Like many of you, I am pretty much "out of room" but the price point seems to getting better as time goes on.... if somebody close by was tempted....
