FOR SALE: Early Columbia Brown Wax Cylinder, 1896/97 - $125

“The Wood Nymph Galop”, Charles P. Lowe on the Xylophone accompanied by piano. Columbia Phonograph Company of New York and Paris, Record #12001, E- with one small mold spot, ~120-123 RPM, Original box and batting. Rare title. It begins with the crystal clear thump when the recording machine starts and leads into the terrific Columbia New York & Paris announcement. Very fine and shallow grooves which leans towards 1896 and based on the Columbia catalogues, it’s no later than 1897.

If this record was ever played on period equipment, it must have been very infrequent. Since it's been in my possession, it's only been played on CPS1, which is a professional non-destructive playback/transfer system with ultra-light tracking.
