Credenza question

Picked up my 8-30x today and I am very pleased for the $265 I paid. Works and plays beautifully, minor scratches on the finish and the grill cloth is perfect. However..... the tone arm mount is broken. I wired it together until I can get a replacement. Do I need a Credenza specific mount or is there another that's compatible?

You may want to contact Ron Sitko. He may have some reproduction pieces available. Look in the Links section of the forum.

To my knowledge, all of the Orthophonic brackets, save for the 4-3 (Consolette), are the same. There are usually a couple of vendors on eBay who sell them, but I checked a couple of my bookmarked sellers there and they had none. Likely, Ron Sitko will have one:

I believe George Vollema sells them as well.

Is JAS still selling them? I still have the one I bought from them just in case.

One more question. Is Murphy's Oil Soap ok to clean the 100 years of cigarette smoke and grime off the cabinet? Or is something else better to deep clean and still preserve the glossy finish. On less smooth phonograph wood I do use 0000 steel wool and GoJo but nothing drastic needed here.

We've used Murphy's, but in our experience the finish is left cloudy and dull - so after it's fully dried we apply an orange oil to bring back the shine and help the thirsty wood. I suppose paste wax would be a better alternative, though obviously more labor intensive.

YMMV, just my $.02...

I assume Howards feed and wax will bring back the luster after cleaning? Or would paste wax be a better choice?
