Hello,
While I am a new registered user, I have "ghosted" the forum on occasion in the past and found it to be a very pleasant place with very knowledgeable members.
I am hopefully my post and format do not breach etiquette of forum rules and will seek any forgiveness in advance.
I am attempting to assist my mother to liquidate small collection of various phonographs and eventually a larger, uncataloged collection of records.
As I am sure many of you have experience when these are posted in the various public forums there are many curious in the public that will ask for many details but never have any intents of actually engaging in a transaction. It is for that reason I have come to a place where the people are direct, sincere, knowledgeable and respectful of the history these devices hold.
I will also greatly accept any insight the forum membership may wish to offer regarding liquidation of these units.

Thank you for your post. I am sure some collectors will chime in with any input or questions. One thing I thought I would mention.... There is a group of us that gravitate towards the "off brand" phonographs. While they don't command the premium prices, it might be worth posting a photo/price/description of the "Tabe-A-Nola" you mentioned in your list....

I would not go to a lot of trouble because, in the end, the actual realized price may not be quite what you are looking for.... But, it might gain a little interest here on the forum.

Also, you don't by chance have any other unique off brands other than the "Tabe-A-Nola" available, do you? ;)

Thanks, - Chris

Chris,
Thank-you for taking the time to reply.
Form what I know, the TABE-A-NOLA was manufactured in Reading, PA
There were 2 rather similar versions of the machine. The variance was in the cabinet design.
One, like the one I have, has open sides with no front doors where one would normally store records.
The other had enclosed sides with doors to cancel the record storage area.
As far as the phonograph play itself, think "Zenith works in a draw"
The actual motor and turntable would pull out in a drawer located in the middle of the console. You could push it back into a closed position even while playing.
To some, this made it seem like a rather sparse and utilitarian console with very little ornament pending the front of the player drawer itself.
From what I personally notice, I think it copied may attributes of the Edison BC-34 cabinet and actually improving on it by eliminating the need to raise the center of the console to access the player.
By placing the player in a pull out drawer, the owner could now use the entire top surface of the console to display their valuables.

Here are 3 pics I do have but need to take some better, more appropriate ones when I can.

The Tabe-A-Nola is neat! Thank you for your response! I have to admit, the Victrola XVII is cool, too. I can only speak for my taste, but I like them all original and showing a little age. I will let others chime in if they have any input as to realistic values. I am only in my thirties and have been collecting "on and off" for about 15 years or so. My interest is mostly historical based... but, these things are addictive. :D

Let me add this before signing off, though. Values are all over the place, right now. Be careful. I have seen Victrolas and Grafonolas go for far less than $100 but priced as high as $350 to $450 at antiques malls, etc.... You may want to think about how sentimental you are vs. getting them into the hands of a collector who maybe won't be prepared to pay top dollar....

Just my two cents....

Stay in touch, feel free to PM with any further discussions, - Chris

Jerry,
Yes I have a few machines posted on FBM.
Was wondering what kind of exposure they'd get.
Many machines there that are either WAY OVER or under valued (in my opinion).

I'd really rather see these end up with folks that have the ability to bring them back to full life and appreciate their value.
Thanks for looking.

Chris,
Appreciate the input.
I agree that the values are all over.
Some make no sense what so ever.
Trying to be very realistic about the values given each has some level of TLS needed.

I have great respect for those that really know the history and workings of these engineering marvels.

Let me know if you want more info on the TABE-A-NOLA. Once I get things cleared off the cabinet, I can provide much better pictures.
It was pretty neat idea for the day...
Best,

Don
