Here is a 1918 Victrola IX i just finished restoring for a buyer in LA. The buyer was the vocalist for the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra for 20 years. Now he can play all those old 78 records.

That motor looks new! Did you also use the Mobil 1 synthetic grease in the spring barrel?

Looks brand new. I'm sure the owner will be delighted. I used Mobil 1 grease for my IX motor including packing the spring barrel and I expect it will keep it purring for quite some time.

I use mobile 1 for the gears and Amsoil Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease with 5% moly for the springs, IMHO there is no better. I have seen what has happened to the original grease that was used in Victrola motors so hopefully the synthetic holds up better.

I never heard of Amsoil Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease so I will be sure to find it for my next spring service job. Thanks.
