Does anyone have a picture/diagram of a re-entrant horn?

I am trying to understand all of the terminology used with antique phonographs. One of the terms I have heard from time to time is re-entrant horn.

Does anyone have a "visual aid" that might help me to understand this horn configuration? I attempted a search (both in this forum and elsewhere), but came up with a big donut.

Thank you!

Have a look at http://www.intertique.com/OrthoCatalogueDemo3.html

Somewhere I saw a "cartoon" version where you could see sound waves passing through it - I'll keep looking.

Here is the Harrison patent as assigned to Bell Laboratories. The diagrams may help, the text may cure insomnia but is also interesting and describes the function and patentable features of the horn.

Thank you, everyone. The diagrams and pictures helped, as did (ironically) the patent text in helping me to understand the basic acoustic technology involved.

That said, I couldn't help thinking that the actual re-entrant horn configuration reminded me a lot of some of the miniature (goofy) golf courses I have been to!

Here is a new re-entrant horn, designed for your iPhone. It was designed and is being offered for sale by Bob Baumbach, famous author of Look for the Dog.

Impress your friends with 1925 technology!

I don't even have an I-Phone but my wife does so I bought her one of these at Union last June. I think they are pretty cool and they definitely work. My wife was not terribly impressed, I guess expecting perhaps something more shiney... :monkey:

The concept is almost like an early version of Bose soundwave technology. :rose:
