Earliest VV-50 Ever!

I wonder how many are older than this one. This is certainly one of the earliest in existence.

I've wanted a VV-50 with a four-digit serial number for years, ever since I saw one on for auction you know where. That one's number began with four, this is even older.

This is "sport collecting". Anyone with money can get a rare collectible, the challenge is getting one WITHOUT spending much. That's the sport. Like who can cross the Atlantic in the smallest boat, who can catch a fish with the lightest line.

Congratulations, great find. I also love my VV-50, even though the serial number is 10 times higher. What kind of wood is this one? Can you post a few more pictures about the condition etc?
Thanks
Andreas

Ebay had one in 12/08 that was 4816. That was the oldest I had seen until yours. I just sold mine this weekend, its 5986.

I always wondered about the Chinese characters on Victor typeplates. What do they mean, and why and from when did Victor take the trouble to include these?

Nice find. I know what you mean about sport. It's always great to have an very early or rare example. I own an 8-30 but would love to have the earliest 2 door Credenza I could find. Could you post more pictures? I'd like to compare it to mine which is a Type B, per the Victor Data Book. The serial number is 77XXX which appears place it it sometime in 1923. I would particularly appreciate a good photo of the horn and rear tonearm area if you can do it.
