After lots of elbow grease (well, really just Gojo), sourcing a new lid (that I bought from Skihawx), and scraping some paint I've got a pretty well transformed machine. Here are some before and after pics.

Sadly my XVI came with a chrome Exhibition, anybody out there have a gold colored one they'd like to swap for a chrome?

That would be nickel-plating, not chrome. Nickel has a yellowish cast, chrome is bluish.

Hello Dischoard (a clever name!) It looks like a brown Pathé PERFECT record on the turntable of your machine. Do I see a wooden needle in the socket?
I had a feeling that wooden needles and brown "Perfect" records did not go well together.
A very nice job you have made of the gramophone. I had a similar model years ago. I remember it was in a 1920s house in a classy part of our seaside town. Unfortunately the machine was in the attic, four flights up! We managed to get it downstairs with a lot of quiet swearing, and snubbing of toes and knuckles against the walls. I remember there were about 5 78s with the gram, nothing of interest, EXCEPT for a rare "Featherflex" disc.
