Consecutive Serial numbers

It is something I have thought about for a while and I would keep my eye on while perusing Ebay but it finally happened on its’ own by random luck. I am a Victor Guy and have kept an eye out for a consecutive serial number to ANY model Victor in my collection. I recently procured a Victor V Ser 38638. Upon closer examination I find it is a consecutive serial number to the Victor V Ser 38639 that I keep in my collection on a Cabinet that Matches. Almost 10 years later, 50 miles away from each other I find a consecutive serial number! I don't know what the odds are but they must be pretty low. I guess I now have book ends! I can’t separate them that would be bad karma.
Does anyone else have consecutive serial numbers and of what model machines?

That is really cool that you were able to make that happen. I had a similar thing happen that I am really kicking myself I could not pull off. I have a first model Victor XIV that is serial number 9002. About 150 miles from myself another XIV serial number 9000 came up for auction. Due to an unexpected illness in my family I could not get to the auction and bid on it. It would have been really special to have two Oak early XIV's with such close serial numbers. I look at it this way, at least I know it is out there and maybe someday will come available again when things work out better.

Years ago I had a chance to visit first generation collector, Ken Blazier, and he had consecutively numbered Edison Operas. The sad part was when he sold his collection, they were separated. I hope you keeps the twins together. They are special. Thanks for sharing. Jerry

Wow! I never would have thought two could be found in consecutive order. That seems like an amazing feat. I second the sport collecting comment!
Two Operas with consecutive serial #'s...that's amazing!
Hey John, you could one up the Operas. Any chance you could find Old #1 or Old #3?!

If you think about it, two consecutive Vic V's would be more difficult than the Operas. I think the V's are incredible. Jerry

I was stunned when I discovered that a collector who lives 20 miles from me has a Berliner lever wind that is exactly 1 number higher than mine... They were almost surely made on the same day.

While it is interesting to get such an oddity, you end up with the same unit.
Why not gather different units with the same number!
