Here is a nice HMV 102 in green:

The seller also has the machine it is sitting on listed...

Currently on a modest £112 it is missing the record tray and the spring clip which secures the tonearm when in transit.
Neither picture shows the condition of the soundbox, so bidders would be well advised to contact the seller for clarification.

I have a spare record tray and clip but I still wouldn't buy this example. The seller generally has machines in an average to poor state. The 150 is not a great example either.

There are at least a dozen 102s on Ebay at the moment including coloured case examples. Sadly none of them are perfect examples or 100% correct / complete.

Has anyone else noticed that black 102s are making the same money on Ebay as the red / green / blue examples?

It seems a good example is a good example irrespective of its colour these days. Buyers are truly "colour blind" it seems!

Now that you mention it, the gap between black and other colours does appear to be closing, but if I ever get the chance to bid on a grey one to complete my set I will probably have to pay dearly for it. Here is what I already have :

Nice collection, Roger, and yes you will pay dearly for a grey one!

The green 102 referred to in this thread is also missing its auto brake. The soundbox looks okay at least.

I'm on the hunt for a boring black one but it must be immaculate inside and out.

A nice photo like that wake me up:)
I am curious to know, do you HVM 102 collectors regard the panel in lid version more attractive and preferable than the later version without the panel in the lid? Or, would you even say that you would prefer to have one of each, if possible?

I prefer the panel in lid. The late ones are missing the panel through sheer cheapness on the part of EMI. They were trying to cut costs in manufacture and it shows!
