I don't know what it is or whether it's a scam. I do know that after clicking the links above, suddenly I have an offer from PayPal offering me $5 off RestoFinisher products if I pay with PayPal. All the links in that email link to legit PayPal sites and the email uses my full name, so it's certainly legit. I have no idea how PayPal got the info that I was looking at the RestoFinisher site. That kind of thing freaks me out!

All it does it wet the wood and in doing so it hides scratches and dried out crazed shellac finishes.
Lemon oil will do the same thing.

All this stuff is generally mineral oil, maybe some silicon and some times it's tinted just enough to add some colour.
There is this wipe on Polyurethane or even Tung oil, that most likely work just as well or better.

This is from their before and after photo's, you can still see where it darkened the water damage and rings.
Walnut is not very forgiving, the rings take on more of the natural colour of the walnut which is darker then the faded surrounding wood.

Just as with 52089 above, I too got a PayPal offer for $5 off RestoFinisher based on the one search. Kinda creepy, very off-putting.

Lately, all websites selling something seem to make their ads show up on whatever other websites you visit. Someone told me that he was talking about some product in his living room, not online, and the next day ads showed up on his computer and he got emails about it... Technology has stepped over the line.

Curt,

That story is a little far-fetched, unless he has, say an "Alexa" by Amazon, and it is picking up voice data.

But as for the other previous posters, absolutely. that is how things work these days. You visit a website, and other companies pay to see this data ("cookies"). That is Big Business these days. Not much different, say, from the old days when you went to your local paint shop to look at paint samples and Joe the Painter called you a few days later offering his services.

I always know when my wife is shopping for stuff because ads for similar items crop up on my web browsing. E-commerce rules the day.

I would take Alexa for a little walk out back and use it for target practice.

For the benefit of the earlier posters confused or concerned about the ads popping up, I recommend viewing “The Social Dilemma” on Netflix. It is scary, but then again so were cell phones 40 years ago, Caller ID, email, etc. The world evolves and technology advances aren’t going away.
