My Rüdesheim highlight

I was delighted to hear at dinner in Rüdesheim that some German & Swiss collectors have beta launched a new trading platform just this last Friday, specializing in Mechanical Music (& now I have just looked at it on the web). I like it, it looks good, has free posting for a few months, and it will be crapophone free :-), and an alternative I hope, to ebay.

btw, an ebay tidbit!

For those who do not follow California politics - Meg Whitman, former CEO of ebay was running for governor, and ran the most expensive campaign probably in the history of the universe, spending around $180 million of her own money to get elected. She lost, and the main resonance from the voters was that they did not feel they could trust her. I wonder why? Each vote that she received cost about $60. I just think how many lives could have been saved / improved if that $180 million was used to help the suffering in Haiti or elsewhere, rather than on her narcissial endeavor.

here is the address of the website,

I hope that the fair in Rüdesheim can be moved back to the more spacious venue, one does get tired of being squashed against tables when people try to pass.

I did not hear about the new phono site. I hope it works out. I'll check it out.

I totally agree with you on the venue for the show this year. WAY too crowded. I was there Sunday for awhile with our two small children, ages 6 & 4. We did not stay long though because I was so afraid they'd knock something over or bump into someone and spill hot coffee on thier heads that we just left...

Next time you plan a trip to the Rüdesheim show, please let me know, it would be great to meet another board member in person - I'm sure that there are some other members of this board who visit Rudeshem. Maybe we can wear a funy hat or something.

Regarding the people squeeze between the tables, what I need to find out - if the show will be in the same hall next time - is how to say in German "is that a Berliner in your pocket, ......"

Actually we did meet there Sidewinder. We stayed in the same hotel, (Central Hotel). I was the one running around with two small kids annoying everyone.

You might also recall bringing a pretty nice Edison with large horn from your place to Union for me some years back...

Yes they definitely needed more space. A bit more lighting would have been helpful there too. To seriously consider a machine or inspect records I need good light.
