I'll bet you didn't know HMV made the Edison Opera disc player, did you?

I just stumbled across this highly accurate, informative eBay listing:

This is a replica version of the 1911 Edison Opera Phonograph, it is among the most desirable of all the Edison models. From the early 20th century, the Opera received a unique, extra steady motor and a traversing mandrel mechanism. This display model is handmade on a 1:1 scale using wood and iron. Every detail such as the horn and storage box is carefully crafted just like real thing, an exceptional gift for the collector and enthusiast.

(Love that mix of ersatz HMV and Pathé elements. By the way, the last of the series of listing photos, not reproduced here, finally lets on that the thing is nowhere near "1:1" scale. It's a miniature.)

I think this post might go better in the "other junk" subsection in the Ebay/Craigslist section.
Nonetheless, that's gotta be the funniest looking "phonograph" I've ever seen

You simply put the cylinder standing up in the middle of the platter, start the motor, and sing yourself whatever you want!

The Oompa-Loompas got busy with that one, looks like it's already melting. :P

If it won't play anything, one can always eat it ! :coffee:
