HMV decal on a Victor m

I picked this predog M today from a shop. It's mostly complete though tonearm is missing it has a HMV decal and a Victor brass tag. Why both

That's not an HMV decal, but rather one used briefly by Victor in the U.S. There's an image of an early Victor I with this same decal on page 80 of Discovering Antique Phonographs.

The missing cover plate is interesting: was it converted to rear mount, and some later owner converted it back to front mount?

Should Chris be looking for the remove plate for a Rigid or Tapered Arm machine? It must have had a rear mount setup at some time. The wear to the cabinet is one clue plus the inside plate is still there. I love that decal.
