Edison C Reproducer

I just bought a Edison Standard model B and it came with this C reproducer. I don't know much about reproducers but I do know that this is not correct. Has anyone have a idea what the previous owner was trying to do?

God only knows...but I fear it had gruesome consequences for some poor records.

Fortunately it stopped the record from spinning.

Looks like trying to repair it by soldering a modern lp stylus, stylus arm included.

I have original stylus bars with new correct sapphires if you need one.
