We are seeking the top casting for an early 4- clip Edison standard Phonograph. The one we have has two shattered back rod castings that cannot be repaired.

Would it be possible to see a photo of your damaged deck?

That's otherwise a nice bedplate!

On two occasions I did successful repairs to this type of damage by drilling a small hole on each side of the shaft, inserting/gluing a wire into the holes so it arched over the shaft, and then sculpting the missing upper stanchion with a product called "Quiksteel." (I expect auto body putty or JB Weld would work as well.) After it dried, a little filing and sanding, then paint, and you'd never know. These repairs have held up for about 25 years so far.

JN Weld will work on this for sure. Plus it’s black I color and can be almost unnoticeable when smoothed out.

Also recommending the suggestions for J B Weld--That stuff is fantastic. And since there is enough of the rod bracket left to make a cradle for the wayrod, you won't have it putting the rod out of alignment, either.

I would not bother fixing it as the serial number is nothing special and when you go sell it or trade up it will be a sticking point.
