In time for Valentine’s Day, here’s a nice recording from Walter Scanlan on Edison Diamond Disc:

Bob,
Thanks for posting this! You’ve really come through on the last two holidays with appropriate music.

This is indeed a beautiful song! Here's Harry Raderman's dance band rendition, also on Edison diamond disc:

Does anyone know what accounts for the resurgence in popularity of this 1910 song during the late 20s?

Both nice but I have to say I really like the Raderman version best, probably because I've had it for years on both Diamond Disc and blue amberol. I play it every once in ahwile. Perhaps I'll play if for my wife today!

Rocky, If you get time why don't you post the other side of the DD. It's another nice waltz, "All Alone" if I recall correctly. Also it must be one of the longest DD recordings made. I think it runs almost 5 minutes. Thanks, bruce

I have that Raderman DD also (51433); I'll have a go at transferring both sides early tomorrow.

Well....I tried to transfer mine, but the disc is in poor condition, and the flip side was too gouged to be playable, so I abandoned efforts to dub 'All alone'.
Here's what 'Sweetheart' sounds like, from my DD:
